The building at the right is a camera obscura overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Camera obscuras came into use before 1600, and were a secret tool used by many famous artists to provide better perspective to their paintings. The light in this camera obscura enters the top of the building, and is displayed on a round table inside the building.

The Sonoma and Mendocino Coasts are two of my favorite places for seascapes. The rock formations are as impressive as anywhere in the world, and the moods change hourly.

The Mount Penatubo eruption in 1991 was the second largest volcanic eruption in the 20th century. Its dust floated to the west coast, resulting in spectacular sunsets. Here, that spectacular sunset is over the cliffs south of Bodega Head.

The Cliffs of Moher, south of Doonagore Ireland, are some of the most famous sea cliffs in the world. Yet the cliffs in the following picture, also in Ireland, are three times as high.
WEB-MoherCliffs-IE-06048.jpg
The highest sea cliffs in Ireland, the Slieve League cliffs are much less accessible than the Cliffs of Moher, with no welcome center with a restaurant, or public restrooms. It is a 2 kilometer hike up hill from the small parking lot, and another few km up a trail from the Sliebh Liag viewing platform area to photograph this view. These cliffs are 3 times as high as the Cliffs of Moher.

On a peninsula south of the famous Ring of Kerry, Ireland, are the spectacular Cliffs of Campoy. Located at the end of a small peninsula on a lightly traveled road in County Clare, the Cliffs of Campoy are near a lighthouse at the end of the road.
